GSEP, ONÉE and UM6P join forces to support the development of expertise in sustainable energy
GSEP, the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) partner to promote academic excellence in the field of sustainable energy development. The agreement was signed by Mr. Abderrahim El Hafidi, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GSEP and Director General of ONEE and Mr. Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P during a ceremony at the UM6P campus in Benguerir, Morocco.
Under this agreement, two master’s students of UM6P were awarded scholarships. As part of GSEP's annual scholarship program that has supported 144 students from 37 countries since 2001, these grants aim to promote the emergence of a new generation of experts from developing countries in the fields of electrification and sustainable energy.

More specifically, these scholarships will be open to UM6P students enrolled in a Master's degree program in one of the three energy-related fields: the Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Material Sciences & Nano-Engineering Department), the Master's degree in Green Building Engineering and Energy Efficiency of the SAP+D (School of Architecture Planning & Design of UM6P) and the Master's degree in Electrical Engineering for Renewable Energy and Smart Grids of the UM6P's Green Tech Institute.
Developing expertise to support Morocco's energy transition is crucial. ONÉE - the first African company to chair the GSEP - believes that this collaboration will give bright students the opportunity to develop their skills through a training of excellence with curricula oriented towards the future of the African continent and access to an entire ecosystem based on innovation and experimentation.
This association is in line with ONÉE's ambitions for its mandate at the head of the GSEP which aims to promote the exchange of thoughts and strategic information impacting the profound transformation expected in the electrical energy sector, namely in terms of decarbonization, digitalization and decentralization.
