First Student Symposium awards prize to Indian student's work on electrification of public transit

GSEP reinforces its commitment to developing youth's expertise in sustainable energy development and electrification

Last week GSEP held the first edition of its Student Symposium which featured 11 presentations on various topics related to the energy transition and electrification. All presenters were master’s students recipients of this year’s Education for Sustainable Energy Development (ESED) scholarships awarded by GSEP annally. This activity was part of the Young Ambassadors for Global electrification program

Sukriti Mahajan from India received the Best Presentation Award for her research on the Development of a Business model for the Deployment of E-Buses in the State of Odisha. She is currently finalizing her master’s degree in Renewable Energy Engineering and Management at the TERI School of Advanced Studies. 

Special mentions were also awarded to 

  • Ariadne Renteria Castenada (EIT InnoEnergy Master’s in Environomical Pathways for Sustainable Energy Systems) for her Technology Comparison for Renewable Energy Projects in Barranquilla, Colombia: CSP and onshore wind
  • Ouadii Ouledboutaarija (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University - UM6P) for his reasearch on Empowering rural areas by promoting renewable energy in the argan oil industry
  • Nouhayla Mansori (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University - UM6P) for her work on Geopolymer: An energy saving material

The jury was composed of experts from GSEP member companies: Véronique Gérauld, Prospective Missions and External Relations, EDF; Carlo Napoli, Deputy Director, Enel Foundation; Caroline Savoie, Strategic Advisor – Corporate Communications, Hydro-Québec; and Vincent-Michel Duval, Executive Director, GSEP.

This event closed the first year of activities of the Young Ambassadors for Global Electrification program, which resulted in 48 young professionals from developing countries being awarded certificates for their commitment to defend and promote the benefits of sustainable electrification and clean energy development around the globe.
