Electric Mobility in Peru: The Path Forward

Translation available in English and Spanish.

After two years of operation of the Lima E-Bus, GSEP unveils the results of the replicability study of this project aiming to pave the way for local authorities to deploy large-scale electrification of public transit in Peru. The custom-made electric bus, which has been the first to operate daily in one of the corridors of the city of Lima, has collected the necessary data to lay the foundations for an effective integration of electric vehicles and implementation of charging infrastructure.

What concrete environmental benefits can be achieved with the switch from diesel or CNG to electric buses? What implications are there in terms of costs for transport authorities, bus operators and passengers? What key aspects and conditions need to be evaluated to ensure the successful development and implementation of electric mobility? GSEP and its partners Enel X and Hydro-Québec will guide you through this pilot project’s lessons learned for Peru and the rest of the world.
