Energy storage is crucial to stabilizing power grids and will play a key role in making networks more efficient, resilient and cleaner than ever before. Since 2014, GSEP member company Hydro-Québec has been working with Sony on a joint business venture to research and develop large-scale energy storage systems for power grids. The venture, called Esstalion Technologies, is developing a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery that is safe and can be rapidly charged.
