State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) was established on December 29th, 2002. The mission of the company is to provide safer, more economical, cleaner and sustainable electric power energy to customers. The core business is to build and run a bulk power transmission system covering 26 provinces, 88% of the national territory. With more than 1,500,000 employees, SGCC is dedicated to provide green power to a population of over one billion. SGCC also operates the national transmission network of the Philippines and some transmission lines in Brazil. In 2011, State Grid was the largest utility in the world and ranked 7th on the Fortune Global 500.
