Adeyemi Sunday Adeleye

Adeyemi Sunday Adeleye

Adeyemi Sunday Adeleye is a student from Nigeria who obtained his BSc in Microbiology with First Class Honours and awards for the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Microbiology and Best Graduating Student from the Faculty of Science at his university. He has a strong background of community involvement and plans to work with the Nigerian Ministry of Environment. Mr. Adeleye will pursue an MSc in Energy and Environment at the University of Leeds, UK.

Oisik Das

Oisik Das

Oisik Das is from India where he obtained a Bachelor of Technology with high marks. His particular interest is in studying the thermo-chemical pathways to convert cellulose and hemicelluloses for the production of bio-oils such as ethanol. Mr. Das intends to pursue a MSc in Engineering at the department of Biological Systems Engineering at Washington State University, USA.

Desta Lemma Gebrewold

Desta Lemma Gebrewold

Desta Lemma Gebrewold is from Ethiopia where he obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and an award for the best thesis. He is interested in investigating greater operational efficiency of a fluidized bed power coffee husk gasifier that could save much of the diesel fuel now used for this purpose, as coffee is a main export of Ethiopia. Mr. Gebrewold will pursue an MSc in Sustainable Energy Technology at the Faculty of Engineering Technology at the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

Mohammed Motaher Hossain

Mohammed Motaher Hossain

Mohammed Motaher Hossain is from Bangladesh where he obtained a BSc in Electric and Electronic Engineering and received four Technical Educational Awards from the Technical Board of Bangladesh. He has been working for a company, founded by Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, that supplies decentralized renewable energy technology to rural households in inaccessible areas. Mr. Hossain will pursue an MSc in Renewable Energy from the Institute of Physics at the University of Oldenburg in Germany.

Maria Jose Ibarrola Rivas

Maria Jose Ibarrola Rivas

Maria Jose Ibarrola Rivas is an engineering physicist from Mexico where she received an award for Academic Excellence having the highest average grade among the physics engineering graduates. She has worked on several renewable energy research projects, including the design and construction of a solar stove. Ms. Ibarrola Rivas has been accepted at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands where she will pursue an MSc in Energy and Environment at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Sujit Thakuri

Sujit Thakuri

Sujit Thakuri is from Nepal where he obtained a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and two university awards. He has had experience as a research assistant in several renewable energy projects in rural areas of Nepal. Mr. Thakuri has been accepted at the University of Oldenburg in Germany for the Postgraduate Programme in Renewable Energy.

Jose Luis Opazo-Bunster

Jose Luis Opazo-Bunster

Jose Luis Opazo-Bunster is a civil engineer from Chile where he received an award for being the top student in the environmental centre of the faculty of civil engineering at his university. He has worked on projects relating to solar energy and to rural electrification including projects with the United Nations Development Program, Energy and Environment Department. Mr. Opazo-Bunster will pursue a MSc in Environmental Technology at the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College, London.
