Chunyan Chai is from China where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering. She has already completed one year of the MSc in Science in Environmental Policy at Bard College, Centre for Environmental Policy, USA. She will conduct research for her course on China’s sustainable energy policy and intends to dedicate herself to environmental protection in her country.
Cesar del Cid Lemus is a forest engineer from Guatemala with an excellent academic record. He will pursue the European Master in Renewable Energy at EUREC, based at the Faculty of Mathematics and Science in the University of Oldenburg, Germany and the Faculty of Science at the University of Zaragoza in Spain. He is strongly committed to the development of his country and will return to Guatemala to promote better energy options for the environment and the rural economy.
Daniel Mulat is from Ethiopia where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with “Great Distinction”. He will pursue a Master in Environmental and Energy Management at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He has been supervising undergraduates of Jimma University in his country while conducting community-based education in rural areas. He is committed to returning to Ethiopia to help meet the challenges of sustainable energy.
Laetitia Namutebi is from Nairobi, Kenya where she obtained a BSc in Electrical Engineering with First Class Honours. She will undertake a MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University, UK. She is currently working in a renewable energy consultancy firm as well as holding a part-time lecturer position at the Faculty of Technology in Makerere University, Uganda. She has a strong interest in sustainable energy and intends to return to Kenya to be a full-time university professor in her field of expertise.
Rosiel Millan-Elias is from Mexico where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with excellent grades. She will pursue the Postgraduate Programme in Renewable Energy at the University of Oldenburg, Germany. She intends to return to her country and contribute to the use of new and clean energy technologies.
Murefu Barasa is from Nairobi, Kenya where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. He will pursue a Master in Environmental Science, with an emphasis on bio-energy development, at the School of Forestry and Environment, at Yale University, USA. He has been a project officer in a leading renewable energy consultancy firm in the region and thus has had key work experience in the field. He intends to return to Kenya to continue working in sustainable energy development for his community.
