In 2005, the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership (GSEP) attended the 14th Annual Pacific Power Association (PPA) Conference held in Fiji. During this conference, PPA expressed their desire to continue the good relationship with the Partnership and to jointly conduct workshops to improve the capacities of the Pacific Islands’ power utilities. The objective of these workshops were to train managers, engineers and technicians in various technical areas.

The Energy Efficiency Improvement Workshops were designed to train PPA member utilities’ managers, engineers and technicians in the areas of energy efficiency and demand-side management. The first workshop was held in the Republic of Fiji from June 11-15, 2012 with the presence of participants from the Southern Pacific Island member utilities. A second workshop was organized in Guam from August 20-24, 2012 for the members from the Northern Pacific Island utilities.
